RAILROAD BRIDGE

railroad bridge 3d model

The Manari Bridge is located near the village of Manari in the Prefecture of Arcadia and is 13 km from Tripoli. It is the most important and largest in a horizontal curve stone vaulted railway bridge of Greece, the study of which began in 1890, at the time of Charilaos Trikoupis and its construction was completed in 1896 by the French company Societe Anonyme Internationale de Construction ETD Enterprises De Travaux Publics. The stones used in the construction came from quarries in the area and are of good quality limestone, with high strength. The Manari Bridge is a unique railroad architectural masterpiece of its time with eight arched spans in a horizontal curve, with a total length of 116.00 m. The radius of the horizontal curve is only 165.84 m. The inner radius of the arched spans is fixed at 6.25 m and the distance between the pedestals is 12.5 m. The pedestals are designed with a trapezoidal cross section to create the horizontal curvature of the bridge. Sources: Arcadiaportal.gr
