The Polish hussars sometimes called winged hussars, were one of the main types of Polish cavalry in Poland and in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth between the 16th and 18th centuries. Light cavalry and then later changed into heavy cavalry was considered as the elite of the polish army. Purpose of the wing is still the point of discussion.
