Monado Future Connected 3d Model – Reimagining the Legendary Ether Blade

The sleek, crystalline aesthetic of the Monado from the Future Connected epilogue represents a significant stylistic evolution from Shulk’s original blade. This recreation interprets the intricate interlocking plates and the characteristic circular energy core with a focus on structural plausibility. Every bevel and recessed panel reflects the distinct design language seen in the trailers, blending mechanical complexity with an ethereal, otherworldly presence.

Designers often struggle with the ambiguous proportions of trailer-only reveals, but this model overcomes those hurdles through careful observation. The artist utilized imaginative solutions for the mechanical expansion points where the blade segments separate during activation. This creates a cohesive look that feels authentic to the Xenoblade universe while maintaining a high level of detail suitable for modern rendering engines.

Monado Future Connected 3d Model – Masterful Hard Surface Workflow

The modeling process began in Blender, where the artist constructed both high-poly and low-poly versions of the weapon. Using a non-destructive workflow allowed for rapid iterations on the complex guard and the hilt’s ergonomic curves. This approach ensures that the geometry remains clean and optimized for real-time applications without sacrificing the silhouette’s sharpness.

Marmoset Toolbag handled the baking process, capturing every minute detail from the high-poly mesh onto the optimized low-poly surface. This step preserves the appearance of heavy metal casting and delicate engravings. The resulting monado future connected 3d model showcases the power of a modern game-art pipeline, delivering a professional-grade asset ready for lighting and environment integration.

Precision Texturing and Materials

Substance Painter served as the primary tool for defining the material identity of the blade. The artist applied PBR (Physically Based Rendering) values to distinguish between the brushed metallic frame and the semi-translucent ether components. Careful attention to roughness maps gives the surface a weathered yet well-maintained appearance, suggesting a history of intense combat.

The technical execution focuses on several key areas that define the visual quality:

  • High-resolution normal maps that simulate complex mechanical recesses and panel lines.
  • Custom emission masks that allow the central ether core to glow with a vibrant blue hue.
  • Layered texture maps featuring subtle scratches and surface imperfections for added realism.
  • Optimized UV layouts that maximize texel density across the entire length of the blade.

Elevating Digital Asset Standards

This fan-made masterpiece demonstrates how passion projects drive the 3D community forward. By pushing the boundaries of reference-based modeling, the creator provides a blueprint for aspiring artists to follow. The balance between artistic interpretation and technical precision results in a model that stands out in any digital armory or portfolio showcase.

Seller Original Description

Excited about the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition? Well, I am for sure, so I had to make some fanarts to ease the hype!! Here is a recreation of the new Monado design shown in on of the latest trailers for the Future Connected epilogue. I only had the trailer as reference, so I had to use a bit of imagination for some pieces and proportions, and for the open/close mechanism too! This was a very exciting hard-surface project, and I loved working on it. Stay tunned for more fanarts coming in the future!I used Blender for both the high and low-poly models, Marmoset Toolbag for the baking, and substance Painter for the texturing. I hope you like this one! ^^
