Kamov Ka35 Helicopter 3d Model

The Kamov Ka-35 concept helicopter represents a fascinating glimpse into Soviet heavy-lift rotorcraft aspirations of the late 1960s, a design that pushed the boundaries of aerial cargo transport. Proposed by the Kamov Design Bureau in 1967, this ambitious project envisioned the Ka-35D transport rotorcraft working in perfect synergy with the An-12D aircraft, creating a formidable aerial logistics duo. Its design specifications were truly groundbreaking for its era, targeting a take-off weight of 71,500 kg and the capacity to transport an impressive 11 tons of cargo over distances up to 700 km, with a maximum range reaching 800 km. The engineers projected a cruising speed of up to 500 km/h, highlighting a clear intent for rapid and efficient heavy transportation.

Kamov Ka35 Helicopter 3d Model – Bold Soviet Vision: A Heavy-Lift Game Changer

This visionary Soviet design sought to address the demanding requirements of heavy cargo logistics, achieving a remarkable carrying capacity of up to 20 tons. The Ka-35D’s maximum design speed was an impressive 500-550 km/h, demonstrating a commitment to performance that few contemporary helicopters could match. Its core power system relied on two turbojet engines, ingeniously integrated with a rotor drive featuring overlapping disks of rotating blades. This distinctive coaxial rotor configuration not only promised superior lift but also offered enhanced stability and control, critical attributes for a rotorcraft of its magnitude and intended purpose.

The Ka-35’s engineering prowess extended beyond its propulsion. Designers incorporated practical considerations for its operational role. A large rear cargo hatch ramp facilitated the rapid and efficient loading and unloading of various equipment and payloads, streamlining logistical operations. Furthermore, the inclusion of a remote-controlled cannon in the nose of the mobile unit suggested a potential dual-role capability, hinting at defensive or even offensive applications for this versatile heavy-lift platform.

Kamov Ka35 Helicopter 3d Model – Coaxial Rotors: Powering Unprecedented Performance

The innovative coaxial rotor system formed the heart of the Ka-35’s performance envelope. This arrangement, a hallmark of Kamov designs, eliminates the need for a tail rotor, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing overall length. The overlapping disks allowed for a compact footprint while still generating immense lift, crucial for managing its substantial projected takeoff weight and payload. The turbojet engines provided the raw power necessary to achieve the high cruising speeds, setting it apart from more conventional helicopter designs of the period.

This blend of high-speed capability with colossal lifting power positioned the Ka-35D as a potential game-changer for military transport, large-scale industrial operations, or even disaster relief where rapid deployment of heavy assets was paramount. Its design showcased a forward-thinking approach to aerial heavy-lift challenges, emphasizing both speed and sheer capacity.

Design Ingenuity: Key Features of the Ka-35

The Kamov Ka-35 was not merely a concept; it was a meticulously planned engineering endeavor with several standout features:

  • Unique coaxial rotor system with overlapping blades for enhanced lift and stability.
  • Expansive rear cargo hatch ramp, specifically designed for efficient loading and unloading of heavy equipment.
  • Dual turbojet engines providing robust power to the rotor drive, enabling high cruising speeds.
  • Integrated remote-controlled cannon in the nose, suggesting potential for self-defense or armed transport roles.

These features collectively underscore a design philosophy focused on maximum utility, operational flexibility, and advanced aerodynamic performance for a heavy-lift rotorcraft.

Seller Original Description

In 1967, the Kamov Design Bureau proposed a project for the Ka-35D transport rotorcraft, intended to work in tandem with the An-12D aircraft. With a takeoff weight of 71.500 kg, it could carry up to 11 tons of cargo for a distance of up to 700 km (maximum – 800 km) with a cruising speed of up to 500 km / h. Its carrying capacity reached 20 tons, and the maximum design speed was 500-550 km / h. On the Ka-35D, two turbojet engines were used with a rotor drive with overlapping disks of rotating blades. The rear cargo hatch ramp was used for loading and unloading equipment. In the nose of the mobile unit there was a remote-controlled cannon.
