Estas figurillas modeladas en barro representan a un grupo de jugadores de pelota acompañados de tres mujeres. Los jugadores destacan por su indumentaria, que incluye una protección en la pierna y un bastón para golpear la pelota. El conjunto fue rescatado de una de las tumbas exploradas en 1970, en el sitio conocido como El Opeño, municipio de Jacona, Michoacán. La tumba y las ofrendas se fecharon hacia los años 1500-1200 a.C., lo cual no sólo da relevancia al juego y su contexto, sino también al tipo de actividades lúdicas que desde entonces se practican en el Occidente.
