Belem Ship

3D model of the Belem Ship. The actual model is approximately 30cm tall.Belem has a long history; it was launched in 1896 and it is still active today! It first began as a cargo ship transporting goods from the West Indies, Brazil and French Guiana to Nantes, France. It was later owned by several renowned individuals, such as the 2nd Duke of Westminster, and beer baron Sir Arthur Ernest Guinness. It only returned to the French in 1979 and it is now active as a sail training ship.In its lifetime, Belem also evaded 2 natural disasters, the eruption of Mount Pelee and an earthquake in Yokohama! Imagine if it had encountered those disasters. This 3D model is how I believe the ship might have looked like in abject disrepair.Photos taken with Nikon D5100. Created using Agisoft PhotoScan. Part of my submission for module ES2802 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.Done by Gladys Gan
