The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a two-seat jet carrier-based interceptor / multipurpose fighter of the fourth generation with variable wing geometry, manufactured by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. Developed in the early 1970s to replace the F-4 Phantom II fighter in the US Navy. In service since 1974. Discontinued by the US Navy in 2006 and replaced by the F / A-18E / F Super Hornet.
