Manari Railroad Bridge 3d Model
Manari Railroad Bridge 3d Model – Unveiling a Greek Architectural Gem
The impressive eight-arched Manari Bridge, a testament to 19th-century engineering prowess, now stands digitally recreated, allowing enthusiasts to examine its unique horizontal curve and robust limestone construction. Located near Manari village in Arcadia Prefecture, this landmark represents Greece’s most significant and largest horizontal curve stone vaulted railway bridge in Greece. Its study commenced in 1890 during Charilaos Trikoupis’ era, with construction finishing in 1896 by the French company Societe Anonyme Internationale de Construction ETD Enterprises De Travaux Publics.
Craftsmen sourced high-quality limestone from local quarries, ensuring exceptional strength and durability for this architectural masterpiece. This digital recreation meticulously captures the bridge’s historical integrity and structural details, providing a valuable resource for various digital applications.
Manari Railroad Bridge 3d Model – Engineering Innovation in Stone
This remarkable bridge measures 116.00 meters in total length and features eight arched spans, each demonstrating an extraordinary design for its period. Its defining characteristic is the tight horizontal curve, with a radius of only 165.84 meters. The inner radius of the arched spans remains fixed at 6.25 meters, maintaining a consistent distance of 12.5 meters between the pedestals.
Engineers precisely designed the pedestals with a trapezoidal cross-section, which ingeniously facilitates the horizontal curvature of the entire structure. This sophisticated approach allowed for the creation of a functional and aesthetically pleasing railway passage through challenging terrain, a true marvel of civil engineering from the late 19th century.
