Single breasted, fastened with large ‘brass’ staybrite buttons down the front; buttons bear the Royal crown, within a raised outline of a rose, slightly raised rim. Two pockets with flaps. No separate cuffs. No shoulder straps. Cloth belt at back, secured by two large buttons of the same design as the front. Shallow box pleats at rear. Prussian type standfall collar, secured by two brass hooks and eyes at the throat. Red wool lining to body of coat. Unbleached white linen lining to sleeves. Embroidered gold badge of rank on right upper arm, as follows: Four gold chevrons, points downward, mounted on scarlet cloth similar to the coat. Gold crossed keys, and superimposed, handles upwards, across the centre of the chevrons. Gold crown, with crimson velvet cushion and coloured jewels. Made by Hobsons & Sons (London) Ltd.
