Passage Tomb, Cairn T, Loughcrew

3D model of the passage within Cairn T, Loughcrew, County Meath, Ireland (SMR No. ME015-012004-). This passage tomb is covered by a large cairn or mound of stones (Cairn T) which has an exterior revetment of kerbstones. The passage tomb is a cruciform chamber enclosed in a cairn, which was constructed in the Neolithic period, about 5000 years ago. Cremated human remains were deposited in the side chambers at the end of the passage. Bone plaques dating from the Iron Age c.600BC to 500AD indicate that the site was reused at this time.The original object was recorded using the Faro 3D terrestrial laser scanner and processed using Faro Scene, Geomagic, and 3DS Max.Additional detailed documentation of several decorated stone was carried out using an Artec handheld structured light scanner can be found within the Loughcrew collection.
