Six hours later, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the lunar surface on the 21st of July at 02:56:15 UTC, followed by Edwin ‘buzz’ Aldrin. NASA would successfully land five more crewed missions on the moon, the last in 1972. Humans have not left low Earth orbit since.
