19th Century Viennese silver & enamel nef ship

This rare and exquisite antique table nef ship is an extraordinary example of Viennese neo-Renaissance design, created by the legendary artisan Hermann Boehm. Nefs, so-called because of the French word for this kind of ship (nef) were popular table decorations in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance in Europe. They would often be made out of precious metals and occasionally used to store expensive condiments such as salt, pepper and spices, as well as cutlery or napkins.Hermann Boehm (active from 1866) was Vienna’s most acclaimed silversmith & enamellist working at the end of the 19th Century, and was especially well-known for his intricately-crafted, artistically-innovative objets d’art in the neo-Renaissance style. This is the same nef ship that was sold at Christies in 2008 for nearly $200,000. http://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-5119569The full resolution model is an 8k texture, 10 million poly work of art and is included with purchase.
